We’ll be reporting this lovely Saturday from the asphalt and cobblestone of Manhattan Island. The sun glimmers up from the sidewalk, all kinds of dogs and people are in evidence……..From the Whole Foods cafe atop the South End of historic Union Square one can sit all day, undisturbed, and watch the patterns of people walking and scurrying below, looking unmistakably to this reporter like the Ant Farm he tended to and manged so poorly as a young boy growing up near the East River in the 60’s. Yes, the prospects were dim for those ants, but their underground, deep-and, plexiglass-wrapped soap opera was endlessly entertaining to the diabolical young boy perched at the head of his bed in Peter Cooper Village settling in for the afternoon matinee.
